The eighth annual Susan Alberti Medical Research Foundation Mother’s Day Luncheon was held on Thursday 6 May 2021 at Leonda by the Yarra.
The special SVI guest speaker at this year’s event was Dr. Elaine Sanij, Laboratory Head at St Vincent’s Institute, an Honorary Senior Research Fellow at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, and a Victorian Cancer Agency Mid-Career Research Fellow.
The other special guest speaker was Lord Mayor Sally Capp, who was elected Lord Mayor of Melbourne in May 2018 and was the first woman to be directly elected as Lord Mayor.
Sally began her career as a Solicitor, after competing Law (Hons) and Commerce degrees at The University of Melbourne. We were entertained by Wendy Stapleton and our MC was Craig Willis.
Thank you to all who attended. Proceeds from this year’s SAMRF 2021 Mother’s Day Luncheon will be donated to SVI once again to support young female researchers, allowing them to continue their research into diseases such as type 1 diabetes, cancer, and osteoporosis. We look forward to seeing you again in 2022.
