The luncheon was so much fun and inspirational. My guest and I were quite emotional when Dr Elaine Sanij presented – what a truly remarkable person. We reflected on the year that was with Sally, smiled and were inspired by Susan and laughed with the entertainer Wendy. We bought the book, made a donation, we are following on social media and looking forward to next year’s event. We are not football fans but you have even got us interested in following the AFLW! This event is an absolute must on my calendar and on many of my friends’ calendars. The concept of raising funds to support a female researcher to continue her vital work whilst she does other vital work (i.e., Caring for young family) has attracted interest from other industry also and SVI are seen to be a trailblazer in this area. Louise Purton is remarkable with her warmth and intelligence resulting in almost not a dry eye in the place. And finally, Susan Alberti is an inspiring woman and I love that the event had so many women in football attending. It was a fabulous celebration of women in Australia’s two great pillars: medical research and sport. Congratulations to the foundation, SVI and all the amazing hardworking volunteers.
