On May 7 the 2015 Susan Alberti Medical Research Foundation Mother’s Day lunch was held at Leonda on the Yarra. Guest speaker Dr Judith Slocombe provided an inspirational speech about her life and experiences and congratulated SVI and Susan Alberti on encouraging women to embrace motherhood and working in medical research. The Susan Alberti Medical Research Award recipient was Dr Lorien Parker from the St Vincent’s Institute of Medical Research.
Sue Alberti said she was proud of the event which was sold out for the third consecutive year. “Mother’s Day is a special day and we celebrate it by raising money to allow women at SVI to spend time away from work following the birth of a child, safe in the knowledge that their research projects continue and thrive,” Sue said.
