On April 8 Susan Alberti and Colin North were delighted to be part of a ceremony officially opening the Nationally Funded Centre for Islet Cell Transplantation in Melbourne, alongside Federal Minister for Health Hon Peter Dutton and Victorian Minister for Health Hon David Davis. Sue has been a passionate advocate and philanthropic supporter for islet transplantation to treat Type 1 diabetes over many years. “I am really thrilled with this announcement and the support of the Australian and Victorian Government,” she said. “I know the difference islet transplantation has made to the lives of many people with diabetes, some of who have become completely insulin free.” For more information about islet transplantation as a treatment for Type 1 diabetes click here.
