On June 29, Susan Alberti hosted the President’s lunch in the lead up to the Western Bulldogs clash with Melbourne. The lunch followed on from the second annual women’s exhibition match between the two clubs. Melbourne proved too strong for the Western Bulldogs, but Alberti said the game was as much about showcasing women’s football as the final result. “It was fitting that we had more than 5000 people in the stands to see the girls compete – congratulations to Daisy Pearce and the demons on a fine result,” she said. In the afternoon men’s game, the Western Bulldogs beat Melbourne in a thriller, by just one goal. Sue said she was proud to be handing back the presidential ‘robes’ to Peter Gordon with her perfect record intact. “This is the second time in 2014 I have been President for the day and we have won on both occasions!”
